How it works

Stamp page numbers on every page in one of four formats, at one of six positions, with control over font size and starting number.

Pick a number format (plain 1, 2, 3; or 1 of N; or Page 1; or dashed style) and a position (six options across top and bottom, left, center, or right). Set the font size (8 to 24pt) and the starting number (e.g. start at 3 if pages 1 and 2 are a cover and you want the body to be numbered 1+). Numbers are rendered in Helvetica grey at the chosen size, with a 30pt margin from the edge of the page. They're drawn directly onto each page (not added as annotations), so they're visible in any PDF viewer and remain when you re-render or print. Output is a fresh PDF, original content untouched. Built on pdf-lib.

How to use it

1. Drop your PDF. Drag the PDF into the upload area.
2. Pick format and position. Choose a number style (1, 2, 3 / 1 of N / Page 1) and one of six positions.
3. Set size and start number. Adjust the font size and the starting number, e.g. start at 3 to skip a cover.
4. Apply and download. Hit Apply — numbers are drawn as selectable text on every page.

Frequently asked questions

Can I start numbering from a page other than 1?

Yes. The "Start from" field controls the first number printed. Set it to 3 if you want the first page to show as 3.

Can I skip the cover page?

Not directly. The tool numbers every page. If you want to skip the cover, extract the cover, number the body, then merge them back.

Are the page numbers selectable text?

Yes. They're drawn as text via pdf-lib using the Helvetica standard font, so they'll be selectable and searchable.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Page numbering happens in your browser via pdf-lib.
